The Blue Myth

Blue as in the myth of you
The one they’ll tell when I cease to be
It’s there you’ll see me in perfect clarity
For the colour of me will be my posterity

Blue because I long for how it used to be
But then I remember how it was never was
It’s all just a myth or a grift
A sorry story I’m telling

Blue because I’m yelling
My internal screaming is unceasing
And I can’t keep it from pouring out
Now these rhymes are how I’m releasing
Blue as in my way out

So whenever I’m in doubt
I’ll catch my tears in a gilded grail
My cup of blue is what I’ll gift to you
The rope I hand down to the lost
My offering free of any cost

Can you hear the myth emerging
It’s all part of the same story
Your life becomes an allegory
A tale you tell yourself in order to be
Words that colour the page become reality

So when they ask me what I believe in
I’ll tell them my religion is you
And simply point up to the sky
And say blue
And leave them wondering why
